From 9 August 2018, severe floods affected the south Indian state of Kerala, due to unusually high rainfall during the monsoon season. It was the worst flood in Kerala in nearly a century. Over 483 people died, and 14 are missing. 😥
Hysteria in my soul, paused to play,
Without a care in the world
Envisaging eminence every night,
Phenomenal is every day.
Sloping roofs, overhanging eaves,
Pillared verandahs and enclosed courtyards
Cacophony of traditional temple instruments,
Blissful is God’s own country for the exuberance it gives.
Countless coconuts and charming shoreline,
I see kites and eagles above dolphins, away from turmoil,
Softly moving palm trees and luke warm waters of the Arabian Sea
Zillion smiles from the downpours to the soil.
Came June and we were merry,
Jubilant farmers and all elated under the nook
Clouds of July made us worry,
Knocking August gave us a perplexed look.
Though undeniable lovely as near to paradise,
Enchanting landscapes urged the deluge
Awaiting Onam God’s own citizens startled
In a spur of the moment the drizzle brought demise
Clouds floated heartless in the sky,
My ball which rolled began to swim
My fantastical floating car seemed the reality,
I was neck deep despite all the try.
I furled myself in anguish
Beholding the sky for expound,
Why was god’s own country in predicament?
Why were we losing our ground?
To iron out he came into my dream,
Asserted that he chastised
For the reason that we turned hoggish,
And we were accusable for desolation and should feel despised.
The fields for paddy were lost to business,
Sensitive land was mined for profits
The course of rivers altered,
Trees uprooted only for progressiveness
He said, the planet serves justice to every creature
We only emulate past hindrances,
Why so much fuss over a man made calamity?
When it is a blunder to hypothesize the nature.
